Utterly frivolous things I might buy if they cost half what they do

-Yves Klein Blue nail polish. But at $20 plus $7.50 for shipping...

-$70 galaxy-print scarf.

-Neon yellow-green J. Crew chino shorts. Same as the neon pink ones I wore all of last summer, but not (yet) on sale. Full price, thanks to the new order in which J.Crew is quasi-"designer," is $45.

Isn't the scarf just a Spoonflower print of a Hubble image? They do have a silk fabric now, iirc.

You make an excellent point. Plus, I'd prefer cotton, anyway. I'm slightly wary of fashion DIY, given my own likely ineptitude in that area, but for something that really is just a piece of fabric, why not?

I bought a pair of Oxford Blue JCrew 3" chino shorts last summer at full price ($42), and it was totally worth it. (I bought the city red shorts on sale). I wear the blue ones like, every other day in the summer (alternating with the red). I'm really cheap, but I would buy those shorts full price in almost every color, because insanely flattering shorts do not come along that often.

Britta,

I remember your enthusiasm for these shorts! I do really like the pink ones... Between you and Amber, I might be compelled to go virtual-shopping.
